MEMORANDUM
TO: EXCESS INSURANCE CARRIERS
FROM: JACK REALE, ADMINISTRATOR
RE: CHANGE REGARDING EXCESS INSURANCE POLICIES
DATE: APRIL 11, 2007
******************************************************************************
In light of numerous questions regarding compliance by our membership
with the Fund’s requirement for submission of excess insurance, it has
been decided that a revision to our current procedures is in order. The changes,
to be implemented on a going forward basis, are outlined below.
1. Our previous procedure allowed for the acceptance of certificates of
insurance issued by brokers and underwriters. This practice is no longer
acceptable. From now on, the only acceptable proof of excess insurance will
be a copy of the actual insurance policy or declaration page issued by the
respective insurance company.
2. Also, the Georgia Self-Insurers Guaranty Trust Fund must be listed as
an additional named insured so that we are notified when a policy is being
cancelled. There will be no exceptions to this requirement.
3. These changes are effective by the next renewal of your excess policy.
